BIOGRAPHY
Emerging playwright Ellen Dean Price has had three produced plays in the last three years. Most recently THE HEIRESS OF HAWTREY HALL, a finalist in the Henley Rose Playwright Competition for Women, was produced by City of Fairfax Theatre (CFTC) for sold out audiences in May of 2024. THE MISFIT PLAYERS had a staged reading with NOVA Nightsky Theater in 2022 and a well received production with Goose Creek Players in August of 2023. Her first original play THE SOCIAL SECRETARY, had a staged reading with CFTC in 2019 and a full production with Sterling Playmakers in 2021 where it was recognized by DC Metro Arts for Outstanding Design Elements. It will have a second production this winter. She has been thrilled to collaborate with composer Ryan Carroll for a musical version of THE SOCIAL SECRETARY which had a private read through in May 2024 and has a workshop scheduled in late June 2024. A BACKSTAGE CHRISTMAS has a scheduled upcoming production TBA. Her newest play, OVER THE ANVIL, has had private readings and is awaiting a first production.
Ellen lives in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley with her husband, Alan, and their rescue dog, Cole. When she's not tapping away at the keyboard, she's teaching, performing, directing, volunteering, or hiking wherever her boots carry her.
